ROSENBERG’S NEW NON-FICTION TAKES READERS DEEP INSIDE THE REVOLUTION

Joel C. Rosenberg, the former political consultant turnedNew York Times bestselling novelist with a reputation for anticipating world events, returs with his second non-fiction title, Inside the Revolution: How the followers of Jihad, Jefferson, and Jesus are Battling to Dominate the Middle East and Transform the World (March 10, 2009/Tyndale).

In this comprehensive examination or events in the Middle East, Rosenberg takes readers back to 1979 when the Ayatollah Khomeini seized power in Iran and unleashed the Islamic Revolution and subsequently the 444-day American Embassy hostage crisis. With riveting style, Rosenberg clarifies what happened, how Washington missed it and how 30 years later Iran could bring the world to the brink of nuclear war.

Rosenberg set the stage for future events with his 2006 non-fiction bestseller, Epicenter: Why the Current Rumblings in the Middle East Will Change Your Future, in which he argued the case that Iran would become a nuclear power and pose an international threat. “The Iranian leaders…are calling for the unification of the Islamic world politically and economically,” Rosenberg now writes in Inside the Revolution. “They are aggressively exporting their Islamic Revolution to countries throughout the Middle East and the world. Put simply, the leaders of Iran believe that Allah is on their side, the wind is at their back, and the end of the Judeo-Christian civilization as we know it is near.”

More over, Rosenberg argues that there are three revolutions in motion—not just one—each of which is pursued with equal passion and vigor to bring change to the Middle East forever. Rosenberg defines these groups heading the revolutions as the “Radicals,” “Reformers” and “Revivalists.”

Radicals—The followers of Jihad—Three decades later the shockwaves from the Iranian revolution are still being felt around the globe and [we] are rapidly approaching the most dangerous moment in the history of the Iranian Revolution. Iran’s senior leaders have state publicly that the end of the world is “imminent.”

Reformers—The followers of Jefferson—Where are the Muslim leaders who are promoting freedom and opportunity and trying to create and expand democracy? “They’re out there,” says Rosenberg. “While not all Reformers are full-blown ‘Jeffersonian democrats,’ a growing number of Muslim leaders are, in fact, seeking to follow and emulate Thomas Jefferson’s teachings and example.”

Revivalists—The followers of Jesus—The big, untold story is that more Muslims are coming to faith in Jesus Christ today than at any other time in human history. During the course of interviewing more than 150 Christian leaders in the epicenter, Rosenberg has assembled enough data and anecdotal evidence to paint a picture of how powerfully the God of the Bible is moving to draw Muslims to the Christian faith.

In Inside the Revolution, Rosenberg addresses such questions as:

How can citizens and leaders in the West properly understand and counter the threat the Islamic Radicals pose to Judeo-Christian civilization?

At the same time, are there any Muslim leaders pushing back against Jihadists?

Are war and politics the only prescriptions for what ails the people of the Middle East today?

Rosenberg’s conclusions to these questions are drawn from extensive travel to Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, Jordon, Turkey, Morocco, the United Arab Emirates, central Asia, Israel, the West Bank, Europe and Canada as well as throughout the United States, doing research and meeting with key participants inside these ongoing revolutions.

On the pages of Inside the Revolution, readers will hear key leaders of each movement making their own cases and speaking in their own words through direct quotes from speeches, textbooks, memoirs, manifestos, web sites and videos written or produced by them. Rosenberg also includes excerpts from captured and intercepted memos, diaries, transcripts from previously classified interrogation sessions and never-before-published interviews.

Among the hundreds of people Rosenberg personally interviewed are:

Porter Goss, director of the Central Intelligence Agency (2004-2006)

Lieutenant General (ret.) William “Jerry” Boykin, U.S. Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Special warfighting.

Fred Schwin, senior advisor to U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff

Samir Sumaida’ie, Iraq’s Ambassador to the United States

Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel Prime Minister (1996-1999)

More than 150 Christian pastors and ministry leaders operating deep inside the Islamic world.

Rosenberg offers a sobering analysis of these three revolutionary movements. His investigation into the trends impacting policy and politics in one of the most volatile regions of the world will change how readers think about and pray for the Middle East.
